Our beginners cross stitch project is designed to be simple but still has lots of charm. We use a grumpy cat looking around suspiciously before settling his piercing gaze on you. This project is ideal to be sewn as a gift and is simple enough to encourage your children to learn how to sew.
The chart is designed for a 2 inch (5cm) wide Aida band but normal Aida fabric can be used as long as it is pressed under and sewn on all four sides after design is completed. Our cat is made up of only three colours and uses no fractional stitches. Backstitch is used to give definition to features, with the only slightly difficult part being from nose to mouth as this is sewn from the middle of the square at both ends.
Here we have used DMC threads but any suitable colours could be used. You could make your cat look evil, by swapping the yellow part of the eyes for green.
